New name for wind farm project
Popular demand has inspired a change of name for a wind farm project between Yelvertoft and the M1.
Your Energy held a series of exhibitions in Yelvertoft, Lilbourne and Crick in the autumn to share up-to-date information on its proposal for an 8 turbine wind farm in the Daventry district.
And 73 per cent of visitors who expressed an opinion through feedback forms on display across all three days said they supported the scheme.
While many visitors supported plans to generate clean, renewable energy sufficient to meet the needs of between 9,100 and 9,500 homes per year, feedback also revealed a preference for a name closely linked to the nearest communities.
Therefore, Daventry Wind Farm will become Yelvertoft Wind Farm.
Charlotte Healey, Your Energy's Development Manager for Yelvertoft Wind Farm, said: "Feedback from the exhibitions was very encouraging, with the majority understanding the urgent need for renewable energy and leaving supportive comments for our plans.
"The wind farm's name was a recurring theme however. We have already demonstrated our strong commitment to listening to the community by reducing the number of turbines and locating them away from a bridleway so we are happy to accommodate local views on the name.
"And of course, whatever the wind farm is called, it will still generate much-needed renewable electricity and help combat the catastrophic effects of climate change."
This website can now be found at www.yelvertoft-windfarm.co.uk. If you have already registered, we will still be able to send you important updates as the project develops.
