Wind farm refused, appeal underway
The Planning Application for 8 turbines near Yelvertoft was turned down by Councillors at their Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday 25 November, and we can confirm we will appeal this decision.
Planning Officers advised the Councillors that the wind farm application met all the necessary criteria but were concerned about the impact on Stanford Hall and its parks and gardens, and had recommended it be refused on that basis.
Professor John Twidell, an independent lecturer on renewable energy, wind engineering and sustainability asked Councillors to show responsibility and vision where it counted, saying their existing environmental policies as just the start of what could be done. He pointed out the reality was a largely out of sight wind farm would help secure the heritage of Stanford Hall.
After a very short meeting, with only three Councillors expressing a view, the application was turned down.
We have meticulously researched the site and consulted with the community to propose the right wind farm in the right place for Daventry, and the Council’s lack of a genuine reason for refusal has forced us to appeal.
The 8 turbines proposed at Yelvertoft would generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of more than 9,000 homes – a third of the households in Daventry district.
